How a Tech Guy Fell into Dance Photography

Miguel gave an interesting talk about how he got into professional photography, particularly photographing dancers. He shared lessons learned growing his skills and photography business. He started Nabla Photography in July 2020 during the pandemic for fine-art dance photography that celebrates the beauty of dance. He serves dancers, parents, and studios with the highest quality service and products. He also shared valuable information about lighting setup.

Born in Puerto Rico PR, raised in Miami, and aged in Austin. Father of 2 girls, husband, and (ex) dog owner. I've been a technologist for most of my life, while photography has been my creative escape for over 20 years. I've worked as a travel, street, family, and pet photographer. We started Nabla Photography in July 2020 during the pandemic, thinking it would be over soon. Many things have changed since then, including my growing work with dancers and my role as president of Austin PPA in 2025.
