Roy Nierdieck, Master Photographer, Certified Professional Photographer, two-time IPC Gold Medalist, 2021 APPA Austin Photographer of the Year and owner of Red Dragon Photography in Lakeway, Texas. Roy has always been involved in one type of art form or another beginning with studying commercial art in college, managing a camera store and working as a photographer for Texas A&M University. Although he likes to do and will do any type of photography, nature photography is his love and passion.

Roy has photographed extensively in Montana, Colorado, Utah and Texas and his idea of a great vacation is setting up in a blind in the middle of nowhere and experiencing hours of boredom highlighted by seconds of pure frenzy and excitement getting that once in a lifetime shot.

As much as he enjoys the recognition he receives from his photos, Roy especially treasures the gratification he receives from teaching and passing on his knowledge and skills to other people.

His talk was based on his Texas PPA workshop which is scheduled for March 15th at Pedernales Falls State Park: https://tppa.org/the-beauty-of-birds.
