Thursday, October 20 - Steven Gotz on the Art of Zoo Photography (Zootography)

The chat window is here: chat_221020.txt

Steven calls himself a Zootographer; a photographer specializing in creating photographs that inspire people to visit their local zoos and wildlife parks. It entails shooting animals, people, architecture, food, plants and rocks. His photographs have been published internationally in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums calendars and books, by the AP International news bureau, in scientific studies, as well as by local TV stations, newspapers and magazines. The Oakland Zoo in California uses his photographs for press releases, maps, signs, banners, billboards, calendars, trading cards, their Social Media channels, the zoo's official web site and more. Steven kept zooming in to the faces of the animals he photographed, and realized that since people also have faces, he studied the Art of the Headshot. That led to photographing the staff and volunteers at the zoo, as well as the Trustees, as a part of being the official volunteer photographer. That in turn led to paid gigs for corporate headshots and family photoshoots. He says that once he became known as "that photographer guy" his hobby turned into a profitable venture.

His website is "Art of Zootography"
